"AMGtech - now with more recalls!" (amgtech)

Took my daughter for her first motorcycle ride a week ago yesterday. Just a half hour with a stop in the middle. Easy. She loved it!
So we've been riding on and off over the last week and rode for over two hours on Saturday. She still didn't want to stop! I couldn't be happier.

Please report back on the Africa Twin. You hate it, right? No reason for me to continue lusting after one, I assume?

Gorgeous bike! Awesome that your daughter enjoyed it, too. How old is she? My son did a learn to ride last year at a local deal, he was 8 st the time. I’d still like to get a couple of dirt bikes.

Way a wesome! These will be fantastic memories for the both of you.
I can’t wait to tell the same story with my boys (3 and almost 5 right now). I’ve taken them around our addition and they love it , but I’m excited for the day I can take them on a legitimate ride through town or along some of my favorite l ocal backroads.

She’s 9. I didn't know they do those for kids! I'll have to look around and find something like that.

I stood next to an Africa Twin this weekend. I feel like my feet would be similarly high off the ground if I sat on one. I'm slightly exaggerating, but that is one tall bike. Looks great though.

It really is tall! I've got the seat in the low position, I'm 5'11", and my sometimes I'm still just tip toes.

I'm 5'6", and my legs are short for someone of my height. If I'm buying jeans, I need like a 27-28 inch inseam. So I know that I'll never own an Africa Twin.

I love the Honda Africa! I haven’t ridden one though. How is it to ride? Does it feel as big/tall as it looks?

It’s great and doesn't feel big/heavy when riding. Tall, yes. I'm working on an actual post about it. Try to get it up in the next couple days.

Good to know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was still a little too tall for me.
It’s a moot point anyway. I literally got my motorcycle permit this past weekend, so I’m nowhere near ready for something like that.

The 500's aren't very big and are only like 40hp. You could totally handle it. They're neat bikes even without the rally raid kit, and not a ton of money. I think it would actually be a great starter bike.

I like the look of them, and I definitely will consider one down the road, but I’m actually planning on starting with a scooter. I like the ergonomics of them, and I’ll be happy scooting around the neighborhood and on back roads on something with a max speed of 50-60 mph. Plus, my other half isn’t crazy about motorcycles, so I’m easing her into the concept.
If I was buying a Honda motorcycle today, it would be between the Grom, Monkey, or Super Cub.

I was just thinking that I don't see any posts about parents taking their kids on Moto rides. This is great to see, I have many good memories as a kid riding behind my dad.

Same! Her mother and I agreed she could stay riding with me at 8, but I honestly didn't feel like she was ready. She's 9 now and that year made a huge difference.

Nice! Mine are grown and we were visiting the married one this weekend in Utah.
Unrelated: how do you like GearWrench ratchets? Any good? Craftsman are not cutting it. If I can wear one out, it must not be much to start with.
Considering this one:
